Mary Ellen is a retired registered nurse and healthcare information technology consultant. She completed her nursing degree at Ball State University and an MBA at Bellarmine University. She worked in various nursing roles for 12 years, including at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. She then transitioned into Information Technology and pursued a career in Healthcare Information Technology working with the electronic health record for 30+ years, including 7 years as a Healthcare Information Technology Consultant with KPMG. She retired with her husband in Florida. Now widowed, she relocated back to her hometown and resides in New Albany, IN.

Mary Ellen was victimized by a government imposter’s fraudulent activities and suffered life altering losses in 2024. She now spends time volunteering with AARP’s Fraud Watch Network sharing her story at every opportunity. She will be walking us through how she was manipulated by very sophisticated scammers who robbed her of most of her life and retirement savings. Her passion is to prevent this from happening to anyone else. “If I can help one individual by keeping them safe through sharing my story, then that will be my legacy."
