Riikka Puttonen heads the UNODC Global Programme on the Implementation of the Organized Crime Convention. She holds a PhD in law and is a trained judge from her home country, Finland. Since joining UNODC in 1999—initially serving in South-East Asia—she has dedicated her career to combating various forms of organized crime across the globe. Riikka serves as the Secretary of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Government Experts on Technical Assistance, which supports the implementation of the Organized Crime Convention and which successfully negotiated the first-ever UN resolution on organized fraud. She is deeply committed to fostering global cooperation and ensuring that no one is left behind.
