Regulators sit at the center of the anti-scam response, but the authorities, budgets, and enforcement tools they work with were built for a threat that moved far more slowly than today's industrialized fraud. This session brings federal, state, and international regulators together for a candid look at their own scorecard: which interventions have measurably reduced consumer harm, where the gaps in authority, data, or capacity are widest, and what has been tried without the results anyone hoped for. Panelists will also take up what they need from industry, from usable data and quality referrals to technical expertise and a willingness to act ahead of a mandate, and what the private sector gains when regulators can move faster and on better evidence. This will be a practitioner-level conversation about a mission neither side can deliver alone.
