Carsten Maple is Professor of Cyber Systems Engineering in WMG, University of Warwick where he is the Principal Investigator of the NCSC-EPSRC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. He is also a Professor and Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute, the National Institute for Data Science and AI in the UK, where he is a principal investigator on a $9 million project developing trustworthy national identity to enable financial inclusion and co-investigator on the £13M Framework for Responsible AI in Finance project. Carsten is a co-investigator of the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity and the Research Innovation Director at EDGE-AI, the National Edge Artificial Intelligence Hub. Carsten is also a Research Affiliate at Judge Business School, and is a departmental visitor at the Computer Laboratory for 2025-2026, both University of Cambridge. He has an international research reputation, having published over 450 peer-reviewed papers and is co-author of the UK Security Breach Investigations Report 2010, supported by the Serious Organised Crime Agency and the Police Central e-crime Unit. Carsten is also co-author of Cyberstalking in the UK, a report supported by the Crown Prosecution Service and Network for Surviving Stalking. His research has attracted millions of pounds in funding and has been widely reported through the media. He has given evidence to government committees on a variety of issues concerning safety, security, privacy and identity.
