Workshop - The (Non)Sense of Consumer Education (Hosted by ScamAdviser)
Description

This session will explore the latest developments in consumer education and whether traditional awareness approaches are still effective against today’s rapidly evolving scams.

The workshop begins with two presentations:

“Fighting Fraud in an AI World: Why Technology and Community Matter” – Simon Miller, CIFAS
This presentation explores how AI is changing the fraud landscape, making scams faster, more convincing, and more scalable. It will examine how technology, automation, behavioural intelligence, and community reporting can work together to prevent scams before harm occurs, including insights from the JustMe initiative developed by CIFAS and Trend Micro.

Presentation by Abigail Bishop, Global Head of Scam Prevention, Amazon
This session will focus on Amazon’s perspective on consumer education and scam prevention, including the latest approaches to protecting consumers against evolving fraud threats.

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Simon Miller (CIFAS), Mark Button, Abigail Bishop (Amazon), Henriette Bongers (Fraude Helpdesk), chaired by Seline Mensink (ScamAdviser). The discussion will examine where consumer education succeeds, where it falls short, and how collaboration, technology, and behavioural insights can strengthen scam prevention efforts.
